MORGANTOWN — The ruptured gas line that caused Morgantown Police to ask the public to avoid Krepps Street has been shut down and the area is now safe, the department reports.
According to a release, at about 9:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of a gas leak at 1141 Krepps St. It was determined that construction crews working at a private residence struck a gas line.
Morgantown Police worked with the gas company to shut down the line. As a precaution, Morgantown Police evacuated Suncrest Middle School and informed residents in the area to go to a safe location, until the department gave the all clear.
