Man hit by car during Suncrest power outage affecting street lights

MORGANTOWN — During a power outage affecting streetlights in the Suncrest area this afternoon, a vehicle hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Van Voorhis Road and Burroughs Street, knocking the man over a guardrail.

Morgantown Police and Mon EMS were on scene of the accident. While the man’s condition is unknown, he was conscious and speaking to officials.

A transformer fire in Suncrest caused the power outage. Officers were sent out to control the major thoroughfares affected, including Van Voorhis Road, Chestnut Ridge Road, Patteson Drive and Mon Boulevard.

According to Mon Power’s website, roughly 7,000 customers have been affected.

Power has returned to some areas, such as Mon Boulevard and Patteson Drive.
