MORGANTOWN — The Monongalia County Commission will sit down with new West Virginia Department of Transportation Secretary Byrd White and Jimmy Wriston, acting commissioner of the state division of highways, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
The meeting will be held like a normal commission work session, and while it will be open to the public, public feedback and participation will not be part of the meeting.
Even so, Commission President Tom Bloom said he’s willing to deliver any information, questions or concerns provided to him at tbloom@moncommission.com to the state road officials.
“Our number one priority is to let them understand the condition and the seriousness of our dilemma with the roads. We also want to let them know that we’re willing to work with them to get these problems resolved. I think that’s the basic premise,” Bloom said.
The meeting comes after the commission sat down with acting DOH District 4 Engineer Darby Clayton on Friday.
A list of additional roads to receive attention this paving season came out of that meeting, including portions of: Buckeye Road, Smithtown Road, Kings Run Road, Pineview Drive, Fort Martin Road, Jake’s Run, Brookhaven Road, Valley View Drive (working with MUB) and Chaplin Hill Road (working with county funds),
According to Bloom, there will also be a number of roads that were cut from last year’s list that will be addressed by May 1, weather permitting.
