Vincent A. Billek

Vincent A. Billek, 83, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, following an illness of several years.
Born March 13, 1936, in Grindstone, Pa., he was a son of the late Andy and Anna (Pericho) Billek.

A 1956 graduate of Masontown High School, he was a coal miner, retired from CONSOL’s Dillworth Mine. After retirement, for several years, he owned and operated Vince’s Mower Repair Shop in Point Marion.

Vince was a devoted member of St. Hubert R.C. Church, where he previously served as usher and also a member of the UMWA, Local 1980.

In 1973, Vince joined the Point Marion Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps, where he was very active until his health prevented it. He was known all throughout the area for his many trips on the ambulance, and for his skill and compassion in helping those in need.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jo (Wolfe) Billek; three children and their spouses, Vinette Andrea and Gregg Sandor, of Morgantown, Mark Vincent and Kim Billek, of New Geneva, Pa., and Tanya Jene and Joseph Beno, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a devoted granddaughter, Rebecca Jene Sandor, of Raleigh, N.C.; and two sisters, Shirley Bitters, of Philadelphia, and Arlene Ludrosky, of Cleveland, Ohio. He will be dearly missed by his family and by his community that he faithfully served for so many years.

He was preceded in death by one son, Todd Ray Billek, in infancy.
Friends will be received at Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Pa., from 2-4 an 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 28, until a 10:30 a.m. prayer service. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Hubert R.C. Church, in Point Marion, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Gade Show Reddy as celebrant. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, in Point Marion.

Point Marion V.F.D. will hold services at the funeral home Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Point Marion Vol. Fire Department, 1 Cheat St., or St. Hubert R.C. Church, 9 Sadler St., Point Marion, PA 15474.
