Morgantown Dance presents ‘Alice in Wonderland’ at Met

MORGANTOWN — Morgantown Dance Studio and Morgantown Ballet Co. present “Alice in Wonderland,” an original work based on the works of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass,” with music by Daniel Berkman, Carl Davis, Anne Dudley, Richard Hartley and Joby Talbot. It will be performed at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday the Metropolitan Theatre on High Street.
The two-act production is under the artistic direction of Morgantown Dance Director of Community Productions Desiree Witt, with choreography by Witt, Gretchen Hurd, Ashley Manzo and Craig Kaufman.
Morgantown Dance is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities to dancers in Morgantown and surrounding communities.
MDS encouraged Witt to involve as many dancers as possible from every local studio in Morgantown, Fairmont, Clarksburg, Bridgeport and Uniontown, and to create a work utilizing the genres of tap, jazz, contemporary and modern ballet.
Witt, along with other Morgantown Dance faculty, has created more than 30 roles for young children and adults, of various skill levels. Experienced in working with diverse groups, Witt also works to create a supportive working environment for the dancers, multi-generational volunteers, families, designers and production crew.

Tickets may be purchased online by visiting morgantowndance.org, at the studio or at the door the day of the production. Group rates are available for organized groups of 10 or more.
