Morgantown Area Partnership may have new director soon

MORGANTOWN — The effort to combine four entities tasked with fostering investment and development in the greater Morgantown area continues.
The Morgantown Area Partnership is the umbrella entity under which the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce, Monongalia County Development Authority, Campus Neighborhoods Revitalization Corp. (Sunnyside Up) and Morgantown Area Economic Partnership will operate.
A national search conducted by recruiting firm Jorgenson Consulting resulted in the selection of a prospective director for the MAP.
Eldon Callen, vice president of community and economic development for the chamber of commerce, said an offer was made and an announcement regarding the new director is forthcoming.
Further, Craig Walker, Chris Atkins, Randall Trickett, Ron Justice and Heather Gentile were nominated to fill openings on the MAP Board of Directors.
The five vacancies are in addition to the current 19-member board, which will remain intact. A March 25 vote will be held on the nominees.
MAP is being formed through an initial five-year agreement.
Due to the development authority’s position as an arm of the county government and the Campus Neighborhoods Revitalization Corp.’s involvement with a Morgantown TIF district, those entities must maintain their individual identities.
As part of long-term planning for the organization, discussions have included bringing the entities under one roof, at 238 High St.
