Detroit suspect in two Monongalia County shootings arraigned

MORGANTOWN — A Detroit man suspected of two shootings was arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on Monday.
Imani Zachary Cody, 21, is charged with first-degree attempted murder in connection with a Dec. 12, 2017, shooting on Brockway Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.
Cody was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Detroit on Jan. 16. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $155,000 bond.
The victim, identified as DSH, told the Morgantown Police Department that he was shot by a black male nicknamed “Trump” and identified Trump as Cody based on a picture, the complaint said.
DSH said he went to an apartment on Brockway to buy marijuana where Cody told him to empty his pockets, attempted to rob him and then shot him in the chest arm and leg, the complaint stated.
A U.S. Marshal’s press release at the time of Cody’s arrest said the victim was in stable condition after being treated.
Cody is also the suspect in a Dec. 9 shooting investigated by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department that resulted in no injuries at Marjorie Gardens.
