Donald Charles Davies, 87, of Morgantown (Stewartstown Community), passed away Thursday evening, February 21, 2019, at Mon Health Medical Center.
He was born May 12, 1931, in Pursglove, a son of the late William A. and Gertrude H. Booth Davies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ann Davies; five children, Michael Allen Davies, Paul F. Davies, Diana M. Moore and Theresa A. Cale, all of Morgantown, and Annie L. Davies, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Davies was a Methodist by faith. He worked for Sterling Faucet for 18 years, was a member of UMWA Local 1588 and 1702. He was a coal miner at Blacksville #1 Mine where he retired 27 years ago. He was a woodworker by craft, owned and operated Homewood Crafts, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Friends may join the family to honor Donald’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown, from 3 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, and from 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. officiated by the Reverend Neil Leftwich. Interment will follow in the Eden Church Cemetery.
