Mon, Preston schools closed Wednesday; Meals on Wheels won’t deliver due to weather

MORGANTOWN — Because temperatures Jan. 30 are expected to be in the teens and single digits, Monongalia and Preston county schools will be closed. Mon will have an Arctic Academy Day. Preston will have a Brain Freeze day.

Mon students will stay home and work on Day 1 activities. Staff will report to school. Students can call their schools or email their teachers if they need help.

Preston students do not report; however, maintenance, mechanics and custodians report on a regular schedule, while all other staff reports on a two-hour delay. Preston schools are open to students from 10 a.m.-noon. Lunches are available from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. All after school activities are canceled.

Monongalia County Meals on Wheels will not deliver food Jan. 30 because of the temperatures.
As of this report, Preston County Schools will also hold a Brain Freeze Day on Jan. 31. Like an Arctic Academy Day, students will work on activities at home for the Brain Freeze Day.
No information was available for Mon County Schools’ plans for Jan. 31.
