Marcella Welton

Marcella Louis Welton, 92, of Morgantown,  currently residing in Lecanto, Fla., passed away January 15, 2019, after a brief illness. Marcella was born to Oswaldo Louis and Maria Scagnet Louis on January 21, 1926, in Dysart, Pa.
She married William A. Welton II and they lived together in Morgantown. She received a Masters Degree from West Virginia University and she was an enthusiastic Mountaineer fan.

Marcella leaves her legacy, two sons, Dennis J. Welton (JoAnn Welton) and William A. Welton III (Margaret Collins Welton); four granddaughters, Kristen Gale (Aaron Gale), Samantha Welton, Daniella Marie Welton, and Claire Marcella Welton; and three great-grandsons, Alex Belcher, Luke Belcher, and Brady Belcher;  one sister, Vera Cura; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Marcella worked as a substitute teacher, a volunteer at the American Red Cross, where she was called “ The Heart of the Office”; and a volunteer of the Ladies Auxiliary at WVU Medical Center. Her interests included duplicate bridge, painting, and music. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She demonstrated kindness and compassion to her family and those around her.

There will be a private memorial service and burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Red Cross (www.redcross.org).
The family would like to thank Marcella’s exceptional care givers, Donna Weigeltt, Dossity Williams, Eda Tucker, Renee Thibos, and Susan Williamson.

The family would also like to thank the excellent staff of the CCU at Citrus Memorial Hospital, and the caring compassionate staff of Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit.
