MORGANTOWN — With championship weekend coming to an end, Oklahoma moves into the final spot in the top four after a win Saturday in a the Sooners’ rematch with Texas, improving to 12-1 and beating every team on their schedule at least once.
Georgia (11-2) played No. 1 Alabama to the final whistle, but losses have to matter in the final decision, and the Bulldogs lost to two of the best teams on their schedule this season, including a 36-16 drubbing by LSU.
Ohio State, which won the Big Ten championship in a 45-24 blowout of Northwestern, also slides ahead of Georgia into the No. 5 spot, riding a hot streak by quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Oklahoma are the top four, followed by Ohio State, Georgia, UCF, Michigan, Washington and Washington State.
The AP poll will be released at about 11 a.m. Sunday. The College Football Playoff will be announced at noon.
