MORGANTOWN — Police have accused Caleb Christian Luzier of stabbing a man Monday night and charged him with malicious wounding. When the Morgantown Police officers arrived at the reported stabbing near on Brockway Avenue, at about 10:40 p.m., a concerned citizen was performing first aid on a victim with multiple stab wounds, an MPD press release stated.
The attack happened in the parking lot near the Walnut Street bridge, Andrew Stacy, Morgantown’s public information officer, said.A witness told police the attacker was wearing a black hoodie and black backpack, and had brown hair and pale skin, according to court documents. A second man, wearing a white hoodie and blue jeans, with blonde hair, was also described to police. The witness said the knife used was a black-handled folding knife with a silver or grey blade, a criminal complaint stated.Police found and detained two men fitting those descriptions about 20 minutes later in front of Gene’s bar, several blocks away on Wilson Avenue, according to police.
Luzier, 22, of Dandelion Drive in Morgantown, was wearing a black hoodie, black backpack and brown hair, the criminal complaint said. In his front right pant pocket was a black-handled folding knife with a silver blade. The man wearing the white hoodie was identified as Dennis Lytle.
Both men were taken to the Morgantown Police Department for questioning, where Lytle told a detective that Luzier stabbed the victim, court records said.Luzier was arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court by Magistrate Darris Summers, Tuesday. Bond was set at $30,000. As of 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Luzier had not posted bail and is being held in North Central Regional Jail.The victim was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital, is in stable condition and receiving treatment for multiple stab wounds. The release did not name the victim.It’s not clear what led to the incident and police are investigating, the release said.
