Iowa State will pay the price for its fans storming the field following Saturday night’s 30-14 win against West Virginia.
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby issued a public reprimand and $25,000 fine for the school.
“We have a duty to provide a safe game environment,” Bowlsby said via an official conference release. “The Iowa State Department of Athletics has a written event management policy that was not thoroughly implemented, and was unsuccessful in ensuring the safety and security of all visiting team game participants.”
West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen complained about the field storming during Monday’s Big 12 coaches teleconference, calling it “unprofessional.”
