Preston man accused of wanton endangerment

KINGWOOD — A Tunnelton man is charged with wanton endangerment and  possessing a 16-gauge shotgun that allegedly went off as he and another man wrestled for control of the gun.
Cody Ray Howard, 27, is also charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. According to the criminal complaint by State Police Trooper First Class J.M. Willis:
On Monday, a man told police that he and Howard had been drinking vodka as they worked on a roof. Afterwards they began to build a fire to cook on, and Howard went into a camper and emerged with the shotgun.
Howard pointed the shotgun at the victim, and, as they wrestled for control of the weapon, it went off near the victim’s head. Officers found Howard at a nearby residence. A protective order issued in Pennsylvania prevents him from having a firearm. Howard was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Tuesday in lieu of $26,000 bond.
