Sue Carole Silcott, 77, of Newburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at her residence with family by her side. She was born June 28, 1941, in Newburg, daughter of the late Earl Edward and Lenora Virginia Burgoyne Lyons.
Sue graduated from Newburg High School Class of 1959. She was a princess of The Preston County Buckwheat Festival and was employed at Sterling Faucet for 33 years. Sue was a member of the Christian Evangelical Church, where she received mother of the year award in 2009. Her devotion to her family, friends and her belief in God supported her struggle and gave her peace.
She was a devoted wife, loving mom, grandmother, great-grandma, sister, aunt and mother-in-law. She loved being with her family, helping others, attending church functions, shopping and doing crafts.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Terrence “Terry” Lee Silcott; one daughter, Teresa Shay and husband, Michael; one granddaughter, Ashley Ridenour and husband, Danny; one grandson, Evan Shay; one great-granddaughter, Bentley Ridenour, who was the light of her life, all of Newburg; three sisters, Janet Lidyard and Tom, Charleston, S.C., Louella Willis, Morgantown, Sharon Nestor and David, Gladesville; two brothers-in-law, John Silcott, Fla., and Gene Silcott and Pat, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Bernard, two brothers-in-law, Jim Bernard and John Willis; and father and mother-in-law, Carl and Evelyn Silcott.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, in Newburg, from 3 – 8 p.m. on Friday, September 14, andfrom 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, until the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Damon Cemetery.
