GRANVILLE — Zack Kone hit a three-run home run in the first inning, and Fabricio Macias had three hits and three RBI as the West Virginia Black Bears defeated the Batavia Muckdogs 9-2 on Tuesday, in front of 1,118 fans at Monongalia County Ballpark.
The home run by Kone scored Mike Gretler and Grant Koch to give the Black Bears a 3-0 lead.
The Black Bears (25-38) later scored four runs in the sixth to punctuate the blowout.
West Virginia right-hander Mike LoPresti (2-4) picked up the win.
