STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Travis Swaggerty scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning, leading the West Virginia Black Bears to a 3-2 win over the State College Spikes on Friday.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Black Bears and a five-game winning streak for the Spikes.
The play capped a two-run inning and gave the Black Bears a 3-2 lead after Swaggerty hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.
State College took a 2-0 lead after Stanley Espinal hit an RBI single in the first inning and Delvin Perez scored on a forceout in the second. West Virginia answered in the fourth inning when Jhoan Herrera scored on a forceout.
Argenis Romano (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief while Hector Villalobos (1-2) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game. Logan Stoelke retired the side in order for his fifth save of the season.
