STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Justin Toerner scored the winning run on a passed ball with two outs in the ninth inning, as the State College Spikes beat the West Virginia Black Bears, 3-2, on Wednesday.
The Spikes tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth when Wadye Ynfante hit an RBI double, scoring Brady Whalen.
State College starter Diego Cordero allowed two runs and seven hits over 7 2/3 innings. He also struck out three and walked one. Troy Montemayor (2-1) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief while Will Gardner (0-1) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game.
