WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Raul Siri hit two solo homers as the West Virginia Black Bears beat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 8-1, on July 20.
It was the Bears’ second straight win since a seven-game losing streak left them with the worst record in the league.
Up 2-1, the Black Bears extended their lead in the third inning when Siri hit a solo homer.
The Black Bears later scored in three additional innings to punctuate the blowout, including three runs in the eighth.
Mike Gretzer went 1-for-4 with three RBIs for West Virginia.
Black Bears right-hander Osvaldo Bido (2-3) picked up the win, allowing one run on four hits over five innings. Ryan Valdes and Cody Smith each went two scoreless innings in relief.
Opposing starter Manuel Silva (0-2) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game, allowing three runs and four hits over 4 2/3 innings.
West Virginia is 3-1 against Williamsport this season.
