MORGANTOWN — Jevon Carter added security to his NBA career Sunday, signing a multi-year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The former WVU point guard was picked No. 32 overall by Memphis in June’s NBA draft. During the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Carter is averaging 12.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals in 23.8 minutes through five games.
In a win Saturday over the Utah Jazz, Carter had 26 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block.
Carter was known for being a defensive guru in his time with the Mountaineers, winning the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year as a senior and was also named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a senior and junior.
