Paul Cunningham Dunko, 59, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Physicians Regional Hospital, in Naples, Fla.
Paul was born and raised in Morgantown on Aug. 18, 1958.
He graduated from Morgantown High School, in 1976, and married his high school sweetheart, Sandy Keener Dunko on Dec. 19 of that year.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandy; his two sons, Alexander Paul Dunko, 33, of Naples, and Andrew Cunningham Dunko, 28, who lives in Boca Raton, Fla. He leaves two grandsons, Logan and Mason Dunko; and his daughter-in-law Melissa Mackey Dunko. Paul is also survived by his mother, Georgeanne Dunko; two brothers, Greg Dunko and Doug Dunko; and a sister, Deanna Dunko Riley. He leaves a multitude of additional family members and friends.
Paul was a master cabinet maker whose work adorns homes in Naples and beyond.
In 1992, Paul and Sandy moved to on the island of St. Thomas, where he practiced his craft. After Hurricane Marilyn in 1995, Paul assisted in relief efforts, even though his own business had been ruined.
Once the crisis had passed, the Dunkos moved to Naples, where he established a new business.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He coached his two sons in sports and delighted in spending time with his grandsons.
He was generous with his time, his affection and his laughter and, like William Yeats, never knew a stranger, only friends he had not yet met.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at the Etudes de Ballet Center, on Pine Ridge Road, in Naples.
The family asks that guests bring only fond memories of a life well-lived (and perhaps a dish to share).
