MORGANTOWN — Twinkle lights, red table cloths and a surplus of auction items filled the Hotel Morgan Ballroom on Thursday evening.
The Morgantown Board of Realtors’ Community Service Committee hosted a Fiesta Fun-Day Party with the purchase of a $20 ticket.
All proceeds from the annual fundraiser will benefit the Weekend Back-Pack Program for Scotts Run Settlement House and Pantry Plus More Program.
These programs aid in feeding over 1,200 students in Morgantown and the surrounding areas.
In proper fiesta fashion, the evening’s meal was a Mexican buffet with a dessert table.
Patrons could purchase drinks as well as win them in an auction or ring toss.
Guests had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction at the beginning of the evening and live auction later in the night.
Tables were lined with a variety of items and winnings, such as hand-painted wine glasses and a “beach ready” basket.
Some tables auctioned off items and experiences from area locations like custom floral arrangements by Wilson Works of Morgantown or one pizza a week for a year from Mountain State Brewing Co.
Organizers of the event include Kris Kullman, chair of the Morgantown Board of Realtors, and Michele Rafus, co-chair.
When asked about the history of the event, Claire Petro said, “Last year, we raised over $14,000 and are hoping to exceed that goal.”
This year the goal was to raise $20,000.
