MORGANTOWN — HealthSouth MountainView Regional Rehabilitation Hospital will cease its outpatient services effective April 27 according to Chief Executive Officer Tracy Vinciguerra.
“What we do is continually evaluate our operations to ensure we’re dedicating the resources appropriately to provide our patients with the best possible care,” Vinciguerra said. “What we determined, really to better serve the needs of the Morgantown community was to discontinue the outpatient therapy at our outpatient clinic, really, to focus more on our inpatient hospital services.”
HealthSouth, which will be rebranded Encompass Health in early 2019, has a 96-bed, 73,000 square-foot facility located at 1160 Van Voorhis Road.
Vinciguerra said inpatient services will not be impacted. She went on to say that offerings like aquatic services, support groups and community-based programs will be incorporated into the hospital’s inpatient focus.
She said the move away from the outpatient clinic will result in the loss of between seven and eight full-time employees.
Further, Vinciguerra said HealthSouth intends to assist clinic patients to find a new care provider.
“Every single one of our current outpatients have either been able to pursue and finish their current treatment plans and the one’s that aren’t, we’ve personally reached out to our other colleagues that would be able to meet the specific needs of their diagnosis as well as their family and personal needs,” Vinciquerra said.
She went on to say that the company is grateful to both the employees and patients that made the outpatient clinic a success.
“We value very much the dedication and service of our employees to the outpatient therapy department and we certainly value and honor the patients who have sought our services out,” Vinciguerra said. “We feel like they are family, the employees and the patients. That’s very important to us.”
