MORGANTOWN — The 2018 Don Nehlen Lecture Series focuses on Optimizing Performance in D1 Football, a winning collaboration between coach and sport scientist.
Mack Brown, head football coach at the University of Texas from 1998–2013, and John Ivy, professor emeritus of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at U.T., are the scheduled speakers at 3:30 p.m. April 20, at the Morgantown Marriott Event Center, room MEC-B, Waterfront Place.
MEN’s SOCCER
Three players from WVU will join the Kaw Valley FC team, an elite level pre-professional team in Lawrence and Topeka, Kan. The three include defenders Ryan Kellogg and Logan Lucas and goalkeeper Steven Tekesky.
Kaw Valley FC begins play in its inaugural Premier Development League season May 18, in Chicago. Home matches begin May 25, at Rock Chalk Park, in Lawrence, and will also be played in Topeka, at Hummer Park.

RIFLE
Two Mountaineers will represent the team at the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships for Rifle and Pistol.
Sophomore Morgan Phillips and freshman Sarah Osborn reported for check-in at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., for competition this weekend.
The top three finishers in each discipline will qualify for the Junior National Team.
TRACK AND FIELD
Following a week away from competition, the Mountaineers return to action at the Bison Outdoor Classic, today and Sunday, in Lewisburg, Pa.
The Mountaineers join Army West Point, Buffalo, Cornell, Duquesne, Lehigh, Penn, Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse and others at Bucknell this weekend. In all, over a dozen Division I programs are set to compete at the meet.
GOLF
The Mountaineers will close out the regular season today and Sunday at Penn State’s Rutherford Intercollegiate.
The Mountaineers will join the Nittany Lions, as well as Binghamton, Cleveland State, Columbia, Eastern Michigan, Dayton, Georgetown, Loyola, Oakland, Rutgers and Seton Hall in the field. Golfers will play the par-71, 7,202-yard Blue Course. They’ll play 36 continues holes today and 18 Sunday.
Max Sear continues to pace the Mountaineers with a scoring average of 72.64, with a low round of 66 on the season.
TENNIS
Baylor 4, WVU 0: WACO, Texas — The Mountaineers (7-10, 1-5) got blanked in a Big 12 Conference match with the Bears.
WVU plays at Texas on Sunday. The match will airlive on the Longhorn Network and can be streamed through the WatchESPN and the ESPN app.
