TUNNELTON – Thursday is Vietnam Veterans Day.
William Childers, commander of VFW Post 2345, said he is working to make that day special. Childers, along with Dena Livengood Hall, president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 2345, are holding a “Welcome Home” for Vietnam vets.
“I feel it’s important for all of our veterans, especially those who got a poor reception when they returned, to be thanked for their sacrifice,” Hall said.
Childers said a ceremony honoring Vietnam veterans that took place in North Carolina gave him the inspiration to do one in Preston County.
The ceremony will take place 2 p.m. March 29 at the Tunnelton Honor Roll.
