MORGANTOWN — Morgantown Utility Board (MUB) General Manager Tim Ball said the feedback included in MUB’s recently released 2018 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) reflects the time and talent invested by MUB’s water plant staff.
Ball explained that the annual report essentially serves as MUB’s report card, assessing the quality of the product being delivered to the utility’s customers.
“Our water plant staff works hard every day to provide the very best water quality for our community, and I am pleased that the CCR provides an opportunity for their excellence to be recognized,” Ball told The Dominion Post.
While reading the report can feel a bit like swimming upstream for those outside the industry, Ball said he was particularly proud of a couple of the report’s findings.
The first, he explained, is the high number of non-detectables, or NDs, listed in the report.
According to Ball, ND means that “the particular contaminant in question was present, if at all, in such small quantities that it could not be measured using the rigorous testing protocols prescribed by the EPA.”
MUB’s water quality also excelled in turbidity testing, which is a measure of how clear the water is. Ball said turbidity is among the more straightforward measurements spelled out in the CCR.
“As with the NDs … our turbidities are so low that they approach the detection limits of the best testing technology available,” Ball said. “Very simply, that means that we provide our customers an exceptionally clean water.”
