First Exchange Bank continues to aid flood victims of Mannington

First Exchange Bank continues to aid local community organizations recovering from flood devastation that hit the town of Mannington last July.

“We recognize there continues to be opportunities to help assist in the long process of recovery from the flooding we encountered last year,” said Bill Goettel, president and CEO of First Exchange Bank.

First Exchange Bank has donated several appliances to the Mannington Fair Board and the Mannington City Pool to help aid these organizations back to recovery.

“This donation really helps, and we appreciate this and all that First Exchange Bank does for us,” said Perry Thorne, president of the Mannington Fair.

The Mannington Fairgrounds and the Mannington City Pool saw first-hand the devastation from the flood as they each experienced substantial damage. The concession stands along the creek at the fairgrounds were damaged extensively, while the appliances were a total loss, Thorne said.

“You don’t understand how much we lost during the flood last year,” Sally Kolb, member of the Mannington Park Board, added. “Because of everybody in the community, we are able to survive everything we went through last year.”

First Exchange Bank is a locally owned and operated bank that has been serving the communities of Marion, Monongalia and Wetzel counties since 1932.
