More candidates file in Preston County judicial races

KINGWOOD — More candidates filed in the two judicial races in Preston County this week. Kingwood attorney Buddy Turner filed for the unexpired term of Circuit Judge Lawrance Miller Jr. Steve Shaffer, a Kingwood attorney from Tunnelton, announced his candidacy for the judge’s seat Jan. 23.

Earlier, Prosecuting Attorney Mel Snyder filed for the office.

Rhonda Sypolt, of Rowlesburg, became the second person to file for the unexpired term of Magistrate Lew Ault, who retired in December. P.L. Grimm, who was appointed to fill the seat until the election, filed earlier to run.

Art Mouser, of Independence, filed to run for the conservation district supervisor position.
