Grover “Buck” Franklin Cole, 92, of Tunnelton, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in his residence, with family by his side. He was born February 11, 1933, in Terra Alta, a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Cole and Pearl Powell.
Buck was a proud member of the First Christian Apostolic Church in Tunnelton, where he looked forward to the Sunday morning services. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and watching the trains go by, and spending time with his family and friends.
After working for 17 years at the Humphrey #7 Mines in Mount Morris, Pa., he decided it was time to retire.
Buck is survived by two sons, Willard Edward Cole and Ruby of Maple Run, and Larry Allen Cole of Morgantown; four daughters, Judy Haskiell and Joe of Newburg, Connie Sue Morris and Don of Newburg, Alice Hunt and Ron of Grafton, and Kathy Harrison and Ronnie of Kingwood; two daughters-in-law, Linda Cole and Beverly Cole-Barnett; numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great- great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys June Chedester of South Carolina; two brothers, Junior Cole of Virginia, Woody Cole of Arthurdale; his neighbor and good friend, Virgie Marsh; and his fur-baby, Bella; his caregiver, Tina Rager; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Nina (Christopher) Cole; three sons, Ricky Cole, Franklin Cole and Terry Cole; one grandson, Larry Cole; one granddaughter, Michelle Bolyard; and one great-grandson, Samuel Flint; one brother, Pete Cole; his companion, Pamela Rhodes; and a special brother-n-law, Jimmy Chedester.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, in Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Avenue, Newburg, where visitation continues Saturday, March 15, from 9 until the time of service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood.
