Charles “Butch” Joseph Corey Jr., 77, of Tunnelton, W.Va., passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born October 30, 1947, in Morgantown, a son of the late Charles Joseph Corey and Virginia Alice Michaux Corey Vasquez.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Charles enjoyed being outdoors, riding his mower and cutting grass. He loved his fur baby, Spikey.
Charles is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Phillips Corey; three children, Christine Snyder (Chris) of Pennsylvania, Richard Corey (Michele) of Texas, Victoria Calvert (Kevin) of Morgantown; four grandkids, Colin Schwager, Jesse Brennan, Quinn Snyder and Bryce Bracken; one sister, Lilly May Brumley of Tampa, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl Caudill, Marian Sloan and Helen Corey.
Family and friends will be received in Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Avenue, Newburg, from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 6. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the West Virginia National Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
