James Frederick Shipp, Jr.

James Frederick Shipp, Jr., fondly known as Jim, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the age of 68.
Born September 16, 1956, in Denver, Colo., he was a son of the late James Frederick Shipp, Sr. and the late Janet Irene Nuce Shipp. Jim spent most of his life in Morgantown, a place he was proud to call home.
Jim was a hard-working blacktopper, and worked for General Paving for several years, and also Parotta Paving.
He loved hunting and fishing, and being outdoors in general. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being a jokester. He might not have admitted it, but he took pride in cutting grass on his faithful John Deere.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his children, Marie Johnson and husband Mark of Morgantown, and James F. Shipp, III of Star City; his grandchildren, Regina Jolliffe Sine and husband Reno, and James Jolliffe, both of Morgantown; five great- grandchildren; and a sister, Debbie Danley and husband Mark of Morgantown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Catherine Shipp in 2022; and a brother, Ricky Shipp.
At his request, there will be no services and Jim will be cremated.
