Clarence David Wandel

Clarence David Wandel, 89, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully Friday evening, February 7, 2025, in his residence. Dave was born March 22, 1935, in Morgantown, to the late Clarence Robert “Dutch” Wandel and the late Anna Grace Baker Wandel.
Additionally, he was preceded in death in July of 2020 by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Jean Davis Wandel; and his only sibling, Pearl Jean Parker of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
He is survived by his three daughters, Dava, Cheryl and Alisa, all of Morgantown; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Michael, Spencer, Rachel and Klayton Farley, Mark Jr., Brian and Lucas Wilkins, Christa Browning, and Marissa Hicks; as well as several great-grandchildren.
Dave was a 1953 graduate of Linsley Military Academy in Wheeling. He attended school there on a scholarship, where he excelled as quarterback of the football team and breaking most of the rules the school took so long to put in place!

Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country from 1953 until 1958.
He was a good, hardworking man, who didn’t retire until he was 74 years old.
He always put his wife and three daughters first in everything he did.
Most of his adult life was spent doing what he loved – driving commercial trucks and long-haul trucking.
In honoring his request, Dave will be cremated and inurned and laid to rest with his beloved wife, Bonnie, during a private graveside service at the Arnettsville Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to Mom and Dad’s angels on earth – neighbors Dave Chisler and Sandra Lear. Thanks also to special neighbors Barb and Terry Wassell. A special gesture of gratitude also goes out to the girls of Amedisys Hospice. His nurses, Mesha, Sami andMackenzie were amazing! The aides that helped him and put up with him also deserve a big thank you and pat on the back! And to everyone that came to the house and beyond to help take care of him, many thanks to all of you.
Daddy, we love you, and we are so glad you went home to Heaven to see Mother!
