Charles Edward Reel

Charles Edward “Charlie” “Sammy” Reel, 77, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, in WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Charlie was born April 17, 1947, in Kingwood, a son of the late George W. Reel and Evelyn E. Sliger Reel.
Charlie was a graduate of Tunnelton High School and attended Fairmont State College.
He worked for West Virginia University in dining services for many years.
Charlie never met a stranger; he always made friends with anyone he met.
Charlie is survived by a brother, Roger “John” Reel; several cousins; his best fur friend, Baby; and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Freda M. Wise Taylor.
Friends may call from 1 until the 3 p.m. time of service Thursday, February 6, in the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, with the Rev. Dr. David Spence officiating. Interment will follow in the Masontown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Charles’ memory, to the Preston County Animal Shelter, 278 Poor Farm Road, Kingwood, WV 26537.
