Thomas L. Eddy

Thomas L. Eddy, 65, of Core, and most recently of Westover, was called to his eternal home Sunday, January 12, 2025, to be with his wife and son, where he has longed to be. Tom will always be remembered as a kind and gentle soul.
Tom was born October 17, 1959, in Waynesburg, to the late Donald and Sarepta Darrah Eddy.
Tom was proud to be a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School, Class of 1977, and loved being a part of the Core and Mt. Morris communities.
During his working days, he worked as a coal miner until his health would no longer permit.
Tom was no stranger to hardship; he suffered many losses throughout his life including the loss of his mother at the age of 8 months; a survivor of leukemia, which ended his career at an early age; and the loss of his wife and son, and most recently his best friend and brother, Norman. Although, these losses changed his life in many ways, Tom’s faith never wavered and he drew strength from his relationship with Jesus Christ.
Tom was a talented painter of many beautiful scenes, which he gave to many as gifts. He enjoyed camping at Five River Campground with Janice and Tommy, where they made numerous friends and countless memories together.
He was a long-standing member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, where he relished the opportunity to worship with his church family.
Above all, he enjoyed cultivating relationships with family and friends alike.
Tom is survived by his sister, Ellen Bolyard (Bob), with whom he made his home, of Westover; sisters-in-law, Pam Eddy of Mt. Morris, Pa., Marsha Layton (Eddie) of Mt. Morris, and Michelle Bussey of Core; mother- and father-in- law, Fred and Lenora Bussey; nieces and nephews, Nicholas Eddy (Sarah), Betty Nicholson (Jason), Justin Bolyard (Jessica), Leah Bowen (Jeremiah), Leslie Eddy (Robbie). The joy and laughter of his great- nieces and nephews, Braxton and Reese Eddy, Charlie and Elleann Bowen, and Miranda Nicholson, kept his heart full, just as he captivated theirs.
He is also survived by his half-brother, Neil Eddy (Michelle) of Core; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tom was reunited with his wife, Janice L. Eddy; their son, Thomas L. “Tommy” Eddy, Jr.; and his brother, Norman Eddy.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Lori Shuppe for all of her care, compassion, and love shown to Tom and his family over the last two years; she truly has become family and been an angel on earth. Also, thank you to WVU Medicine Hospice Staff, especially Autumn, Mindy, Melissa and Barb for their compassionate care and guidance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in Tom’s memory, to the Mt. Morris Volunteer Fire Department, by mailing a check to: P.O. Box 599, Mt. Morris, PA 15349.
Family and friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home Friday, January 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, January 18, from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service. Following the service, Tom will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery, with Janice and Tommy.
