Tate Lyndon Davis entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 17, 2024, at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on October 19, 2023, in Morgantown, WV, Tate’s time on earth was a testament to the joy and resilience that can be packed into a single year.
Tate was the cherished son of Shawn D. Davis, Jr., and Rachael L. Davis, and the adored younger brother of Gracelynn Blaire Davis, or “Sissy.” He was deeply loved by his grandparents, Shawn “Pappy” and Roberta “Maw Maw” Davis, Greg “ Pap” and Susan “Nana” Moran, along with his great-grandparents, Gary and Bonnie Blosser.
Tate’s extended family includes aunts and uncles-Jacob and Natalie Davis, Sara and Andrew Heston, Greg and Heidi Moran, Ryan Moran. His cousins- Owen, Mason, Warren, Stella, Ivan, and many great aunts, uncles and additional cousins who cherished the time they had with him.
Though his life was brief, Tate’s impact was immense. He was lovingly given many nicknames, including Tater Bug, Tater Tot, Tate the Great, Tater Tough, and Bubby, each reflecting his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. Tate’s presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family and friends.
Tate was a member of the Pillar of Faith Church in Fredericktown, PA, where he was embraced by a community of faith that supported him and his family throughout his journey.
The entire staff at UPMC Children’s Hospital, led by Dr. Paulina Horvei, provided Tate with exceptional care, allowing him to experience the simple joys of being a baby. Tate was an unforgettable patient for many. The Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh also played a significant role in supporting Tate and his family during his treatment, offering comfort and care when it was most needed.
Tate’s legacy is one of courage, love, and the profound impact one life can have on many. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Bruce and Colleen “Granny” Moran, Helen “ Mamaw” Sandy, and Delmar and Wanda Davis.
As we say goodbye to Tate, we celebrate the time we were given with him and the lessons of love and strength he imparted. His life was a beautiful reminder of the preciousness of each day and the enduring power of love.
A foundation in Tate’s memory will be established to honor his spirit and continue his legacy. This foundation will serve as a beacon of hope and support for others, reflecting the light that Tate shone so brightly during his time with us.
Tate’s family finds peace in knowing that Tate lived a perfect life, surrounded by love. We are the only ones that know it was brief. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have been a part of his journey, and they take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to inspire and guide them.
