Jackline Lee McDonald Howenstein

Jackline Lee McDonald Howenstein, 82, of Star City, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Jackie was born July 21, 1942, in Dellslow, to the late Richard and Madeline McDonald.
She married the love of her life, Johnnie Howenstein, February 20, 1960. They were married 54 years until the time of his passing.
She was a woman of faith and attended Pentecostal churches.
Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family, baking, and crocheting and quilting.
Surviving are her children: son, John (Belinda) Howenstein of Morgantown; daughter, Tammy Howenstein of Morgantown; her grandchildren, Chris (Sharah) of Martinsburg, John Howenstein Jr. of Morgantown, Ashley Morgan of Morgantown, Brittany Howenstein (Michael) Bettinger of Fairmont, Amber Morgan of Seattle, Wash., and Clarissa Howenstein (Gavin) of Morgantown; and two great-grandchildren, Kasey Mason of Morgantown and Mackenzie O’Neil, as well as Malakai Palmer, Gage Abel, Lacey Maiden and Olivia Maiden, whom she considered to be like grandchildren. She is also survived by her boyfriend, Ronnie Hernandez of Morgantown; her fur babies, Rocky and Lucky; siblings, Cheryl (Duane) Lane, Shena (Rick) Harsh, John (Carol) McDonald, Janet (Paul) Powell, and Randy McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Johnnie Howenstein; her son, Steve Howenstein; her brothers, Richard McDonald, Eugene McDonald, Holbert McDonald; sisters, Shirley, Sally Cobb, Sue Sites, and Barbara Buseman.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tammy Hilling for the amazing care and support of the last year, as well as Amedisys Hospice for their wonderful care over the last several months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Jackie’s honor, to the Alzheimer’s Association, 835 E. Carson Street, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 22, in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 23, with Pastor Jason Sheffstall officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
