Robert Joseph Kitzmiller

Robert Joseph Kitzmiller, affectionately known as Bob to his friends and loved ones, a loving husband, devoted father, and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the age of 78.
Born January 17, 1946, in Morgantown, Bob led a rich and fulfilling life. He proudly served his country in the Navy, followed by a career as a dedicated firefighter. His time in the Navy instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that would remain with him throughout his life.
Following firefighting service, Bob established a successful construction business with his wife, Gloria, where he shared passion for building and craftsmanship.
Bob’s life was not all work; he had a profound love for the outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, Bob found joy in the thrill of the hunt and the beauty of nature, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for the wilderness.
Beyond his professional and personal pursuits, Bob was known for his generous heart and courageous nature. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and faced life’s challenges with unwavering strength and optimism.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Reyes Kitzmiller; his cherished daughters, Rowena Gradetsky and Raquel Kitzmiller; his granddaughter, Kara Barker; and other beloved family members and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Friends may join the family to honor Bob’s life and legacy in Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Avenue, Westover, Sunday, November 17 AND Monday, November 18, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m., both days. On Tuesday, November 19, Bob will be moved to the Harvest Family Worship Center, 800 Greenbag Road, Morgantown, to lay in repose from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 Noon, officiated by Pastor Kevin Summers. Interment will follow, with Full Military Honors, at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
