Marshall Wayne Deal, 96, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in Sundale Nursing Home, Morgantown.
Marshall was born April 26, 1928, in Taylorsville, N.C., a son of the late Trantum and Dorothy Herman Deal.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue McClead Deal, whom he married August 12, 1983; two children, Norma Coleman of Curry, N.C., and GiGi Milsap and husband Tim of Statesville, N.C.; three stepchildren, Michael Jones of Morgantown, Karen Johnson and husband Doug of Morgantown, and Jeff Jones and wife Shawnda of Kansas City, Kans.; 19 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren, and one on the way; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Terry Wayne Deal; three sisters, Joan, Christine, and Margaret; and three brothers-in-law.
Marshall was a talented woodworker. He made furniture for Degenhart’s Furniture in North Carolina. He was a carrier for the Dominion Post newspaper for several years, and an ordained minister. During his time at Sundale Nursing Home, he would preach the word of God to anyone who would listen, and was always complimented on his beautiful singing voice.
He enjoyed fly fishing, and fishing with his grandchildren. Marshall also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Friends may join the family to honor Marshall’s life and legacy from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, in Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Avenue, Westover, where visitation continues from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, officiated by the Reverend Ray Fluharty. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, where Full Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside.
Flowers are welcomed at the funeral home. However, contributions, in Marshall’s name, may be made to Delmar Chapel Church, 76 Lower Hildebrand Road, Morgantown, WV 26501.
