Charles H. Ord, Jr.

Charles H. “Chuck” Ord, Jr., known for his kindness and friendliness in every community he touched, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Kingwood, at the age of 86. Born March 12, 1938, in Keyser, Chuck embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Ord; his parents, Charles H. Ord, Sr. and Helen Minerva Shultz Ord; his sister, Helen A. Ord; and brother, John E. Ord.
Chuck’s legacy of love continues through his close-knit family. He is survived by his adoring daughter, Cassandra “Cassie” Ord (Sean Mentnech) of Morgantown; and son, Chad M. Ord (Ashley) of Bruceton Mills. His joy for life extended to his grandsons, Colton and Cooper, whom he treasured immensely. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Eleanor Wetzel of Sellinsgrove, Jeanne M. Lawson of Dublin, Ga., Debra L. Unger of Frederick, Md., Patricia J. Ord of Reedsville, Rebecca L. Welton of Reedsville, and Elizabeth A Cappas of Morgantown; along with his brothers, James E. Ord of Wallingford, Conn., and Robert L. Ord of Reedsville.
Chuck’s life was one of service and contribution. His commitment to his country was evident as he served in the United States Air Force during the Cold War.
After his military service, Chuck dedicated his career as a financial counselor at Mon General Hospital.
A member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, he lived his faith through action, visibly reflected in his years of volunteering at Mon General after retirement and his steadfast dedication to his church.
Chuck was an outdoor enthusiast and cherished nature’s beauty. He instilled the value of conservation, volunteering his time with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 46, and the Izaac Walton League of America, where he worked tirelessly to preserve our precious natural resources.

McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services. A time of gathering and visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., when a Funeral Mass will be held, Saturday, November 16, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at Beverly Hills Cemetery at a later date, where full military honors will be conferred by Westover VFW #9916 and the Air Force Military Honors Team.
