Nancy Carol Shahan, of Clifton Forge, Va. and Morgantown, succumbed after a brief illness Saturday, September 28, 2024, in the Lewis-Gale Allegheny Hospital in Low Moor, Va. She was 85 years old.
She was born February 10, 1939, to Frank and Nora Deusenberry Stabene.
Along with her parents, her husband, Melvin Richard Shahan; and her sisters, Mary Ann Cox, Becky Cutino, Lydia Diane Stabene and Gloria Jean Stabene, proceeded her in death.
She and her husband, Dick were married for 49 years.
Nancy loved spending time with her family, traveling and gardening. She was an outstanding baker and in her spare time created the most beautiful needle point art.
Her grandfather (John Deusenberry) was one of the founders of Star City, W.Va.
Nancy is survived by her son, Dr. Tracy Allan Shahan and wife Yvonne Lynn Harrison-Shahan of Silver Spring, Md. and Clifton Forge, Va. She will be deeply missed by her granddaughter, Margaret Claire Shahan of Roanoke, Va.
She and her family are eternally grateful for family and friends who supported her during her illness in Morgantown and Clifton Forge, especially Linda Harrison, Bob and Sue Corley, Anne Smith, Janice Shaffer and the wonderful staff at Highland House and ConnectionsPlus Healthcare.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. She will be laid to rest at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church Peace Garden in Star City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at LBDA.org, in her name.
