Volleyball
Class AAAA:
The University High Hawks collected a pair of 2-0 wins on Thursday night over Tucker County and Preston in a tri-match hosted by the Knights. UHS improved to 27-5-1 on the season and will finish the regular season over the coming days with a quad match on Saturday that includes Parkersburg South, Woodrow Wilson, and Hedgesville before concluding with a tri-match with Hampshire and Elkins on Tuesday.
Class A:
Trinity Christian concluded its 2024 regular season campaign on Thursday night with a 2-1 win over Magnolia and a 2-0 win against Valley in Sabraton. The Warriors finish the regular season 27-11-1, including a perfect 10-0 record at home. Sophomore Lainey Jackson reached the 1,000 digs mark as well.
TCS will enter the Mason-Dixon conference tournament as the No. 1 seed next Wednesday at Clay-Battelle Middle/High School.
The Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees dropped their final regular season match of 2024 with a 3-1 loss to Linsly. C-B finished the regular season with an 18-12 record and will enter next week’s Mason-Dixon conference tournament as the No. 3 seed, matching up against No. 2 Notre Dame in the quarterfinals.
Soccer
Class AAA girls:
The Morgantown Mohigans picked up a pair of solid road wins this week: a 3-1 win over Parkersburg on Tuesday evening and a 4-1 victory against Brooke on Thursday. MHS is now 14-1-2 on the season and will finish the regular season on Saturday morning when it visits Charleston Catholic.
The Preston Knights (5-12-3) fell 2-1 on the road to Fairmont Senior Thursday night.
Class AAA boys:
The Morgantown Mohigans defeated Robert C. Byrd 3-0 Thursday night on Senior Night. The Mohigans finish the regular season 14-2-3 and will host Brooke on Tuesday for the opening round of the Region I Section I tournament.
Preston (5-14-1) fell 5-0 to Fairmont Senior on Thursday on the road.
Class A boys:
Trinity Christian dropped a close 1-0 contest to Grafton away from home on Thursday evening. The Warriors finish the regular season 8-9-1 and will begin sectional play next week.
