MORGANTOWN — The Morgantown Utility Board is working with hundreds of homeowners in the Van Voorhis/Bakers Ridge area interested in connecting to the utility’s sanitary sewer system.
Roughly 370 residences in the Bakers Ridge Manor, Graycliff, Brettwald and Brettwald Estates developments will cover the $95,000 cost of an inflow and infiltration study of their various packet plant systems ($55,000) and a preliminary engineering report ($40,000) detailing what will be needed to bring them into the larger MUB system.
Thrasher Engineering will handle that work.
“Ultimately, MUB will take over their systems, so we want to understand what condition they’re in and what work needs done on them to bring them up to the standard that we need them to be in before we take over,” MUB Assistant General Manager Rich Rogers said.
The homes that would be served are already MUB water customers.
The utility board is also gearing up for an estimated $300,000 project to install storm sewer utilities for King’s Court, a development of new townhomes in the area of Briar Patch Lane.
MUB Communications Director Chris Dale said the work will also impact “numerous” rentals along Valley View Avenue and nine residences within Oak Court.
“The storm sewer upgrade will consist of approximately 1,000 feet of new storm sewer sized according to the professional engineering report completed by Strand & Associates in early 2024,” Dale said. “This project will provide means of upgrading the remainder of the failing private storm sewer through the Briarpatch neighborhood in the future.”
Cost for the work will be shared by MUB and the developer, Biafora Holdings.
