Janie Marie Gatian, 76, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Mon Health Medical Center. Born in Morgantown July 27, 1948, to the late Webster and Ruth Moore Rakosi, Janie’s journey was one marked by deep bonds and a dedication to the wellbeing of her family and community.
Before her well-earned retirement, Janie dedicated her professional life to ensuring the smooth operation of Mon General Hospital as a production supervisor.
Beyond her professional and communal achievements, Janie found her greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid lover of music and dancing, she could brighten any room with her presence. Her love knew no bounds, especially when it came to spoiling her grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, and River; and her beloved dog, Riley.
Her zest for life and her nurturing spirit will be dearly missed by her daughters, Jodi (Bill Zeigler) and Buffie Gatian (Jason Harvey); her son, Blaine Gatian (Barbara); her sisters, Janet Loveridge and Joyce Eddy; her brother, Greg Rakosi (Sandy Snyder); and by her lifetime friend, Kim Parsons.
In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Cooper.
Family and friends may gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 10, in McCulla Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, Friday, October 11. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
