WESTOVER — A new housing subdivision is in the works in the city of Westover.
Joe Panico, representing Victory Holdings, approached Westover City Council regarding approximately two acres of property at the end of Riverview Avenue.
Panico said he plans to reconfigure the 19 existing lots into 15 larger lots on which sub-$300,000 single family homes would be built for sale or rent.
But there are details to be ironed out before that request gets to the Westover Planning Commission.
Panico initially approached the city about a land swap that would allow better access to the site. After some discussion Monday, it was determined the annulment of a paper street through the area and a future right-of-way agreement might be a more efficient solution.
“I just wanted to come see what some of the options are — a land swap, an annulment of that paper road to facilitate the redevelopment of that area and some new housing in Westover; which, a new subdivision, I can’t tell you how long it’s been.”
The issue is expected to be on council’s Oct. 21 agenda.
In other Westover news, it appears the city’s inaugural Winter Fest has a date and a location.
The event will be held from 3-6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the VFW Post 9916 property, at 340 Holland Ave. A lighting of the city’s live tree will be held at 6 p.m.
Event organizer Summer Hartley said initial plans to hold the celebration at the Morgantown Mall have fallen through.

Lastly, Trick or Treat in the city of Westover will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
