Death Notices: Please email death notices to and make sure to note it is a death notice and not an obituary.
Funeral Homes generally submit, confirm and pay for obituaries appearing in The Dominion Post. Please do NOT send an obituary if a funeral home will be submitting one on your behalf. The editor reserves the right to decide what information will be published.
If you are submitting an obituary for a family member, you are responsible for calling The Dominion Post to confirm that it has been received. Obituaries may be submitted via e-mail directly to the obit department, via fax or on the form below. Please allow 30 minutes after you have sent it for us to receive the document.
Effective July 27, 2022, The Dominion Post charges $20 per column inch to publish obituaries. The bill is calculated by the length of the obituary once it is published. The Obituaries Typist can provide an estimate for you before publication.
Obituaries will be accepted from funeral homes until 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for publication the next day. For obituaries submitted by families, the deadline is 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 4 p.m. on Fridays. Some families may prefer an obituary to run on a different day. Please write at the top of the obituary which day you wish it to appear in the newspaper. Obituaries are not published Mondays or Tuesdays.
You will be sent an authorization form to sign and return, saying you have the authority to publish the obituary. You also will need to provide proof of death by means of a death certificate, copy of an out-of-state obituary, contact information for the funeral home that handled the funeral, or other proof of death.
