Briana Alice Spiker, 68, of Morgantown, passed away at Bay Village Assisted Living in Annapolis, Md. on August 9, 2024.
She was born on June 27, 1956, in Clarksburg to Bradford Z. Spiker and Alice L. (Williams) Spiker.
Briana graduated valedictorian from Pennsboro High School and studied at West Virginia University afterward. She graduated Cum Laude from WVU with a Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She went on to achieve a Master of Social Work from WVU after that. Prior to retirement, she was a dedicated social worker, passionate about making sure that individuals have the opportunities they needed to be successful. The majority of her career was spent at West Virginia University.
Briana was a 4-H IFYE in 1982 and lived in Japan with 11 different families. She loved to continue this by hosting international students in Morgantown each year. She traveled often with her children, both domestically and internationally.
Briana is survived by three siblings, Michael I. Spiker, of Ripley, W.Va, Brada E. Stotts, of Evans, W.Va., and Dr. Mark A. Spiker, of Pennsboro, W.VA; and two children, Pete Deremer and his wife, Stephanie, of Annapolis, Md., and Kari Deremer, of Wilmington, N.C.
Funeral services will be at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25. Interment will follow at the South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.
