Joyce Williams

Joyce Lynn Williams, 68, recently of Morgantown, was called home by her Lord and Savior on July 12, 2024. 

Born on June 21, 1956, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harold William Moyer and Ida Mae (McIntyre) Moyer. 

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Richard Moyer. 

Joyce was a 1974 graduate of Valley High School, and she furthered her education at Frostburg State University with a bachelor’s in special education. She retired from the Allegany County Board of Education, where she taught at various schools throughout the county. She attended the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, Md., and in her spare time she really enjoyed crafting and her community’s activities. 

Joyce grew up in Lonaconing, Md. and taught school for some time in Webster Springs, W.Va., where she loved the mountains and fall colors of West Virginia. 

She was also a big fan of the band Aerosmith, singer Stevie Nicks and the TV show “Golden Girls.” 

She is survived by her loving son, Thomas “Matthew” Williams and girlfriend, Jackalyn, of Bruceton Mills; her sister, Vivian Jane Paul and husband, Al, of Ohio; two nephews, Chris and Jason Paul, also of Ohio; aunt, JoAnn and husband, Robert Taylor; various cousins; her beloved canine companion, Olivia; and a dear friend that also resided at Harmony of Morgantown, Geneva Michaels. 

Family and friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Md., on Saturday, July 20. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing, Md.
