Rhonda Yost

Rhonda Lea Yost, 65, of Morgantown, formerly of Monumental, W.Va., passed away peacefully at her home on July 3, 2024, surrounded by her family. After a 10-year battle, Rhonda has defeated cancer and now walks with Jesus.  

Rhonda was born May 8, 1959, to parents, Carl and Elizabeth (Betty) McCue in Fairmont.  

Rhonda was a graduate of the Barrackville High School class of 1978. Upon graduation, she worked at Fairmont General Hospital in the x-ray department. She faithfully attended Kingdom: A Community Church in Westover. 

Rhonda was a beautiful soul who never met a stranger. Rhonda believed everyone had a story to tell and she took the time to know it. Rhonda made friends everywhere she went whether it was the mall, doctor’s office, church, restaurant, etc.  Rhonda genuinely cared about other people and showed the love of Jesus with everyone she met. Rhonda truly loved people and people truly loved her.   

Rhonda enjoyed cooking and baking, shopping to bless other people, WVU sports, watching football and basketball and spending time with family and friends, which included hosting many dinners and pool parties.  Rhonda was pure joy to be around, and she will forever be missed.  

The family and friends that Rhonda leaves behind are her legacy. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Dennis Yost, whose unwavering support and love were the cornerstones of her life; her beloved son, Luke Yost, whose life brought immense joy and pride to her life, and wife, Andrea, her devoted daughter-in-law whose kindness and care provided comfort and strength; adored grandson, Porter Yost, and the bond they shared was a source of great happiness and fulfillment to her; father, Carl McCue Sr.; mother-in-law, Doris Yost; loving sister, Valerie Hamilton with whom she shared a special bond that brought joy and strength, and husband, Greg; brother, Carl McCue Jr. and wife, Lori; sister-in-law, Nancy Vandergrift; brother-in-law, David Yost; special niece, Mariah Carpenter and husband, Thomas, including their children, Berkeley, Oakley and Bexley; as well as other nieces, nephews, cousins and many close special friends. 

Rhonda was preceded in death by mother, Elizabeth (Betty) McCue; father-in-law, Roddie (Dope) Yost; and brother, Micheal (Mike) McCue. 

Rhonda’s family would like to thank Dr. Mohammed Almubarak “Mo” and Adrienne Duckworth and staff for the wonderful care she received at the WVU Cancer Center.  

Family and friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, WV 26501, from 3-8 p.m. on Monday, July 8. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. at Kingdom: A Community Church, 540 Fairmont Road Westover, WV, on Tuesday, July 9, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating. Following the service, Rhonda will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.  

Rhonda was a giver by nature and in lieu of flowers, she would appreciate everyone donating to The SOURCE Foundation, 540 Fairmont Road Westover, WV 26501. The SOURCE Foundation is a local organization whose mission is to encourage and provide support for Morgantown-area youth while strengthening the whole family unit by feeding minds, hearts and bodies.
