Dorothy Alexander

It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dorothy Jean Alexander (Nickolas), on Monday, June 24, 2024.

Born on March 6, 1935, in Glendale, W.Va., Dorothy married Camille Alexander in 1954 and moved to Bruceton Mills two years later. There, supporting her husband, Alexander Coal Company was established.

Dorothy truly fit the saying, “Dynamite comes in small packages.” She was active in supporting the Lions Club with her husband, Camille. She was very active in her children’s local bake sales by offering her specialty, delicious pies. In 1984, Dorothy helped build and establish the Catholic Church in Bruceton Mills. And, most importantly, for her children, grandchildren, family and friends, Dorothy always had an open door with a bed to offer, a meal prepared and a cup of hot coffee poured.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Camille; her son, Dave; her twin sister, Delores Fraas; her sister, Patricia Sickle; and her brother, George Nickolas.

Dorothy leaves behind a great legacy in her family members, Donna Alexander, wife of Dave Alexander, son, Tom Alexander (wife, Susan) and son, Rob Alexander (wife, Jodie); daughter, Michelle Casuccio (husband, Alex); grandchildren, Matthew Alexander (wife, Corine, with children, Avery, Grant and Silas), Joseph Alexander (wife, Amanda, with children, Mia, Soloman, Teagen and Abraham), Heather Dyer (husband, Chris, with child, Kinsley), Hailey Alexander, Jason Alexander and Ryan Alexander (wife, Shelby, with children Leon, Mia and Luke), Justin Hale (wife, Courtney, with children, Wyatt and Hunter).

Catholic Mass and a memorial service will be held at Carl R Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
