Mon Health System announced that Danin Cather, Elizabeth Carpenter and Lotoya Henry-Ojugbana have received the Generation Next: 40 Under 40 Award.
The award recognizes young professionals throughout West Virginia aged 40 or younger who are succeeding in their organizations and making a difference in their community. Winners are named as the next group of leaders who will guide West Virginia toward a successful future.
To achieve such an accomplishment, each nominee has demonstrated outstanding work for their organization by transforming West Virginia communities and demonstrating motivation, problem-solving abilities, loyalty and have had at least five years of proficiency in multidisciplinary management.
Cather, associate administrator of marketing, communications and growth, has been an employee of Mon Health for four years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in marketing from Elon University and master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University. At Mon Health, Cather is responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives that enhance the healthcare system’s brand presence and support overall organizational growth. She is proud to lead a dynamic team, managing multi-channel marketing campaigns and fostering effective communication both internally and externally to achieve the healthcare system’s goals.
“Being recognized with the 40 Under 40 Award is an incredible honor. Originally from Florida, I moved to West Virginia to be with my husband, whose family is deeply rooted here. We are now proud to raise our daughters in this wonderful state, embracing its unique challenges and opportunities,” said Cather. “My passion lies in marketing and creating awareness about the importance of quality healthcare. My goal is to bridge the gap between communities and the vital health resources they need, fostering a healthier and more informed population.”
Carpenter, director of nursing: cardiovascular services, has been an employee of Mon Health for six years. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Hocking College and bachelor’s degree in nursing at West Virginia University. She is certified through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses as a Critical Care Registered Nurse and through the American Association of Moderate Sedation Nurses as a conscious sedation registered nurse. Additionally, she is an associate of the American College of Cardiology. At Mon Health Medical Center, Carpenter has assisted the hospital in receiving numerous accreditations, including the state’s first electrophysiology accreditation, atrial fibrillation accreditation, chest pain with primary PCI peaccreditation, and HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence by the American College of Cardiology. Carpenter has also played a key role in bringing high-technology cardiovascular procedures to Mon Health Medical Center, played an integral part in supporting unit-based shared governance within the hospital’s cardiovascular services and helped to bring nurse-led sedation to structural heart procedures through protocols, research and physician support.
“This recognition is truly humbling, and I am honored to receive the Generation Next: 40 Under 40 Award. My career has been focused on providing the best evidenced-based care to the patients of West Virginia and treating West Virginians as I would want my family treated,” said Carpenter. “Even though I was not raised in West Virginia, this state has become my home. I want to make sure that people receive the care they deserve in our state and ensure that they can stay close to home for that care.”
Henry-Ojugbana has served as the system director of talent acquisition at Mon Heath for four years. She received her Bachelor of Science in business and economics — marketing from Lehigh University, her master’s in adult education and training from the University of Phoenix and is working on obtaining her doctorate in executive leadership from the University of Charleston. At Mon Health, Henry-Ojugbana manages all steps of the staffing function, leads a team of high-performing recruiters and develops and manages programs to meet immediate recruitment targets and build future pipelines. Her expertise in talent acquisition, leadership development and change management has significantly contributed to the success of the system’s hiring goals and programs to attract top talent. Additionally, she has played a key role in the implementation of unique programs across the system, including Mon Pathways to Success, a program designed to help individuals get back into the workforce.
